Happy mid-year!
Seriously, we are halfway through 2021 already.
I usually find this time a little unsettling. I either feel way behind with my goals or a little terrified by the reminder of how fast life moves.
Which is why this year (maybe now more than ever) I’ve decided to make this mid-year a celebration. I think we should reflect on all the awesome things we’ve done this year and pat ourselves on the back for every tiny thing we’ve accomplished.
Whether that was getting out of bed every morning, or making yourself lunch every day, or that one time you made time to meditate – celebrate it. Give yourself a ‘well done’. Even include things like having a really great conversation with an old friend or finding use for that cauliflower you found in your fridge before it went bad.
We are too quick to chastise ourselves for not achieving every giant goal we set for ourselves right this moment, but then we usually forget all the great stuff we are doing on a day-to-day basis.
Yes, the big stuff is important, and we shouldn’t become complacent in reaching our dreams. But cheering yourself on for every great thing you do isn’t going to create any extra obstacles for your goals. If anything, hyping yourself up might have a positive effect, since you’ll feel happier and more inspired and motivated to do the “bigger” things.
We’re put on earth to make the most of our lives. So let’s remember what an achievement that is every time we do so.
Stuff I found in June worth recommending:
Quote
“Your ambition should be to get as much life out of living as you possible can – as much enjoyment, as much interest, as much experience, as much understanding. And not simply be what is generally called a “success”.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
