The January 2022 book releases look insane. Seriously, if the rest of the year follows in the same way, we are in for one brilliant book year. (Something very exciting to look forward to!)
Saying that, here we are looking at 2022! Wow. I kind of love this time of year – everything feels fresh and new. Clean slate-y.
But let’s just get into the books, shall we?

The Ivory Key – Akshaya Raman

I don’t know why, but I love a good sibling story. And there’s not enough of them! Maybe it’s because I have a hilarious brother, but I thoroughly enjoy the dynamics and love/will-wind-you-up-for-no-reason kind of relationship that siblings often have.
And throw in magic? I’m there. So, so there for this.
Icebreaker – A.L. Graziadei
“A. L. Graziadei’s Icebreaker is an irresistible YA debut about two hockey players fighting to be the best—and the romance that catches them by surprise along the way.”
I wasn’t initially sold when I first read the summary of this book; I just wasn’t sure if there was going to be enough of a story.
However, I do enjoy sport team stories, and the idea of two testosterone-fuelled hockey players falling in love while competing to be the best so they can get the only draft spot does sound damn good.
Plus, the tagline goes on to say it’s a novel about finding your team and choosing your own path – two things I definitely relate to and am therefore interested in reading about.
When You Get the Chance – Emma Lord

I’m a huge Mamma Mia fan, so when I realised what this book was about, there was no hesitation in adding it to the TBR!
The suggestion that the MC also struggles with moments of intense emotions also piqued my interest – I like books that explore more personal issues that overlap with mental health.
My Fine Fellow – Jennieke Cohen
“When Penelope and Helena meet Elijah, a golden opportunity arises: to pull off a project never seen before, and turn Elijah from a street vendor to a gentleman chef. But Elijah’s transformation will have a greater impact on this trio than they originally realize—and mayhem, unseemly faux pas, and a little romance will all be a part of the delicious recipe.”
The Taming of the Shrew meets Bridgerton? (I don’t know this for sure, but that’s where my brain went.) Hell. YES.
I have to be in the right mood for a historical novel, but this one sounds so tempting. I think I’d happily pick this up at any moment.
Anatomy: A Love Story – Dana Schwartz
“A gothic tale full of mystery and romance about a willful female surgeon, a resurrection man who sells bodies for a living, and the buried secrets they must uncover together.”
A woman trying to prove she can become a doctor in a time when men were stupid about that sort of thing, a guy who illegally digs up dead bodies for a living, and a mystery around disappearing people for them both to solve? How I would love to sit down for dinner and pick Dana Schwartz’s brain – this sounds incredible!
I don’t have much else to say, other than where and when can I get a copy?!
Walking Romeo – Kathryn Barker
“What if Juliet Capulet met someone who made her doubt true love? What if Wuthering Heights was a message to a time traveller? A cosmic reimagining of Romeo and Juliet and homage to two literary classics in a compelling novel about fate, love and time travel from an award-winning author.”
I adore a good retelling (if done well), and Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite books. Mix that with Shakespeare and I don’t even care what the story is about.
But Kathryn Barker has also thrown time travel into that mix.

This sounds almost too good an adventure.
Did I tell you or what?! How incredible do all those books sound?
And that’s not even all of the exciting January 2022 book releases! I had to cut myself off or this post would have gone on for days.
I really need to up my reading game in the new year – I’ve been saying this every December for years, but, with new releases like this, 2022 might actually be the year I can stick to it!
