2020, Week Eleven Compendium

Happy Friday 13th! I actually love Friday 13th’s. I’m not entirely sure why: I think I see them as special and almost magical, in a way. I mean, no one cares if it’s Friday 12th, but it’s a big deal when it’s the 13th. And they do say (the collective, stat-collecting authority figures “they”) say more accidents happen on Friday 13th’s, but probably because people expect and worry about bad stuff happening, which is a sure reminder at just how powerful the human mind can be and how responsible our thoughts are for some of the outcomes in our lives. I find that reminder pretty exciting, to be honest.

Meanwhile, this week:

Words I’m Loving – “Remember, most of your stress comes from the way you respond, not the way life is. Adjust your attitude. Change how you see things. Look for the good in all situations. Take the lesson and find new opportunities to grow. Let all the extra stress, worrying and overthinking go.” (Unknown)

Inspiration I’m Loving – I recently found out that if you started with one penny and each day doubled the amount you had for thirty days, you’d end up with over five million pounds (or cents and dollars/euros, pick any currency). It’s just simple maths, but it’s insane! And I thought, apply the same idea to anything – not just money. Imagine if that first penny was one page, or one word of writing, or one good habit or good thought, or just one second of doing something you wanted to improve. I’m not saying you could keep up with writing over five million pages after thirty days, but the concept of starting small and letting that habit or intention compound over time has the potential to be massive.

Hack I’m Loving – Freeze fruit (like grapes) to put in drinks without watering them down.

Fact I’m Loving – All years will have at least one Friday 13th, but never more than three. (Bonus fact: fear of Friday 13th is known as friggatriskaidekaphobia or paraskevidekatriaphobia – which, bonus bonus fact, neither are easy to spell.)

Um…

Words of (sort of) Wisdom
If Friday 13th can teach us anything, it’s not to avoid ladders or black cats, but how powerful the human brain really is. Your thoughts can so easily influence and become your reality, so be careful where you focus them. And harness that power! Use it to affect positive change; everything starts with a thought, so might as well put them to good use.
